Where the work fits
Founder-led service businesses often reach a stage where the company is too complex to manage through memory and informal conversations, but not yet large enough to justify a full-time operating executive. Important decisions live across sales, delivery, staffing, finance, and client experience without one shared operating view.
Northbound helps install that view and the cadence around it.
What ongoing support can include
- Leadership priorities. Translate broad goals into a short operating agenda with owners, measures, and decisions.
- Delivery visibility. Define the throughput, backlog, quality, and client indicators leadership should actually review.
- Capacity planning. Connect demand, workload, staffing, and service complexity before hiring becomes the default answer.
- Process ownership. Clarify decision rights, handoffs, and accountability across the work.
- Pricing and client portfolio decisions. Use client economics to inform scope, renewal, segmentation, and growth choices.
What this is not
Northbound is not an interim executive who takes over every function, and it is not a software implementation disguised as consulting. The goal is to help the founder and leadership team operate with more clarity—and to leave behind simpler systems they can sustain.
A practical starting point
Most ongoing work should begin with a bounded diagnostic, such as a Client Economics Review or a focused operating assessment. That creates a concrete agenda before either side commits to a longer relationship.
When it is probably too early
If the business is still validating the basic offer or searching for its first clients, start with business setup and early growth advisory. A heavy operating cadence will not solve an unproven offer.
Start with the bottleneck.
Describe the recurring decision, handoff, or capacity issue consuming leadership attention. We will determine whether a focused review or ongoing support makes sense.
