What we work through
Early-stage businesses rarely fail because the founder lacked another template. They stall because several connected decisions remain fuzzy at the same time. Northbound helps turn those decisions into a short sequence you can act on.
- Offer and positioning. Clarify the customer, problem, promise, and boundaries of the initial service.
- Pricing and packaging. Choose a starting model that is understandable to buyers and workable for delivery.
- Early client acquisition. Identify realistic referral, outreach, and relationship-driven paths to the first few clients.
- Brand direction. Establish enough credibility and consistency to sell without over-investing in a brand system too early.
- Simple operations. Set up lightweight workflows, responsibilities, tools, and decision habits that match the current stage.
What “business setup” means here
Northbound focuses on the operating and commercial side of setup: making the business understandable, sellable, and deliverable. That includes deciding what needs to happen, in what order, and what can wait.
When legal, tax, accounting, insurance, or other regulated work is needed, Northbound can help frame the questions and coordinate with independent professionals. Those services are not provided by Northbound itself.
A typical starting engagement
We begin with one working session, identify the decisions blocking progress, and translate them into a practical 30- to 90-day plan. The scope stays intentionally small until the market gives us evidence to do more.
Who this is for
This work is most useful for service-based founders who have expertise or an early offer but want an experienced operator to pressure-test the business around it. You may be pre-revenue, working with your first few customers, or rebuilding an informal side business into something more intentional.
What comes next
As the client base grows, the questions change. The work moves from “How do we start?” to “Which clients, services, and delivery choices are helping us scale?” That is where the Client Economics Review and fractional operations advisory become useful.
Bring the messy version.
You do not need a finished business plan. Send the idea, constraint, or decision you are currently working through.
